Pair of Vintage 1960s–1970s Space Age Fat Lava Pendant Lights
Bring authentic Mid-Century Modern character into your home with this striking pair of vintage Space Age pendant lights dating from the 1960s–1970s. Featuring sculptural ceramic shades finished in a beautiful graduated olive green and black glaze, these lights are a superb example of the futuristic lighting designs that defined the era.
Their bold rounded form, perforated ceramic shades and warm brass detailing make them an ideal statement piece above a dining table, kitchen island, breakfast bar or contemporary living space. When illuminated, light shines through the circular openings to create an atmospheric glow while highlighting the textured ceramic glaze.
The shades display the distinctive appearance associated with the highly collectible Fat Lava movement, particularly lighting and ceramics produced in West Germany during the late 1960s and 1970s. Condition
Both rise-and-fall mechanisms operate correctly and the bayonet bulb holders are in working order. The lights require wiring into a suitable ceiling electrical supply before use, and installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
The ceramic shades display light age-related marks and minor wear consistent with their vintage age, together with some wear to the cream-painted interiors. These do not detract from their overall presentation and character.
