1. Overview

Welcome to Avego Antiques.

This website, www.avego.co.uk, is operated by Avego Limited, trading as Avego Antiques. Throughout these Terms & Conditions, references to "we", "us" and "our" mean Avego Limited.

We specialise in individually sourced antique and vintage furniture, decorative antiques and collectables.

By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, Delivery Information and Returns & Refunds Policy.

Please read these terms carefully before purchasing.

Our website is hosted by Shopify, which provides the ecommerce platform through which we offer our products for sale.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.

2. About Our Products

At Avego Antiques, we carefully select furniture and decorative pieces for their quality, craftsmanship, character and individuality.

Most of our products are antique, vintage or previously owned. As such, they may show signs of age, wear, previous use, restoration or historical repairs.

We make every effort to describe each item accurately, including its approximate age, materials, dimensions, condition and any significant imperfections.

Due to the nature of antique and vintage furniture, you should expect some variations in colour, finish, construction and appearance compared with newly manufactured goods.

Age-related characteristics that have been accurately described or clearly shown in the listing form part of the item's stated condition.

These characteristics do not remove your statutory rights if an item is faulty, not as described or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal standards.

3. Product Photographs & Descriptions

We take care to provide clear photographs and accurate descriptions of our products.

Please review all photographs and read the complete description before purchasing.

Colours and finishes may appear slightly different depending on your screen, lighting conditions and display settings.

Some photographs may show furniture in a styled room setting to illustrate how a piece could look in a home. Decorative accessories shown in these images are not included unless specifically stated.

Where photographs have been edited or backgrounds replaced, we aim to preserve an accurate representation of the item's appearance.

The written product description, measurements and condition details should be used alongside the photographs when making your purchasing decision.

If you have any questions or would like additional photographs, please contact us before ordering.

4. Measurements & Access

Dimensions are provided in each product listing and are normally expressed in centimetres.

Measurements are approximate and may vary slightly due to the construction and age of the furniture.

We strongly recommend checking your available space before purchasing, particularly for larger pieces such as wardrobes, cabinets, sideboards and dining tables.

Please measure doorways, hallways, staircases, lifts and any other areas through which the item must pass.

If you require a specific measurement, please contact us before placing your order.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that furniture can be accommodated safely within their property and that reasonable delivery access is available.

If delivery cannot be completed because of inadequate access, additional transport or redelivery costs may apply where these have been properly disclosed and are reasonably incurred.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

5. Product Availability

Many of our pieces are individual, one-off items, and stock is often limited to a single example.

We make every effort to keep our website inventory accurate. However, because our products may also be offered through other sales channels, an item may occasionally become unavailable before the website inventory is updated.

If an item is unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you promptly.

Where we cannot fulfil an order, we will cancel it and provide a full refund of any payment received.

6. Prices & Payment

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP).

Prices are subject to change without notice, but any change will not affect an order already accepted by us, except where a correction is agreed with you or otherwise permitted by law.

The total payable amount will be clearly shown during checkout.

Our website prices normally include delivery to most UK mainland addresses, subject to the exclusions and conditions explained in our Delivery Information.

Additional charges may apply for deliveries to the Scottish Highlands, islands and certain remote areas. Any applicable additional delivery charge will be confirmed and agreed before the order is finalised.

Payment must be completed in full before goods are dispatched or released for collection.

We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout.

All online payments are processed securely through Shopify and authorised payment providers.

7. Placing an Order

By placing an order, you confirm that the information provided is accurate and that you are authorised to use the chosen payment method.

After placing an order, you will normally receive an automated order confirmation by email.

This email acknowledges receipt of your order but does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.

A contract for the sale of goods is formed when we expressly accept your order, normally by sending confirmation that the item has been dispatched or by separately confirming that the order has been accepted.

We reserve the right to decline an order before acceptance for legitimate reasons, including stock unavailability, suspected fraud, incorrect product information or an obvious pricing error.

Where payment has been taken for an order that we cannot accept, we will provide a full refund.

Once an order has been accepted, it may only be cancelled or changed in accordance with applicable law and these Terms & Conditions.

8. Delivery

We offer delivery across the UK through parcel delivery companies and trusted specialist furniture couriers.

Smaller items

Smaller items are normally dispatched within two working days using an appropriate postal or parcel delivery service.

Larger furniture

Furniture is delivered using specialist furniture couriers.

Once your order has been placed, we will contact you to arrange delivery and confirm the proposed arrangements.

Our courier will normally provide an approximate three-hour delivery window the day before delivery.

Please ensure that someone is available to receive the item at the agreed time.

Delivery times vary according to the item's size, location and courier availability.

Unless a different delivery period has been agreed with you, we will deliver your goods within 30 days of the contract being formed, as required by applicable law.

Delivery dates and time windows are estimates unless expressly agreed as guaranteed.

9. Delivery Access & Assistance

Please ensure that the delivery address and access information provided are accurate.

Where possible, our furniture couriers will assist with moving items into your property. However, such assistance depends on the courier's arrangements, available personnel and safe access conditions.

Unless specifically agreed beforehand, delivery does not include dismantling, reassembly, installation or specialist positioning of furniture.

Please arrange any additional assistance that may be required, particularly for heavy or oversized pieces.

If delivery cannot be completed because no one is available or access is unsuitable, reasonable additional costs for redelivery or return transport may apply, subject to applicable consumer law.

10. Collection

Collection is welcome by prior appointment from our location near Aylesbury, North Buckinghamshire.

Please contact us before travelling to arrange a suitable time.

Items will not normally be available for collection without a confirmed appointment.

If you are arranging collection through a third-party courier, please provide their details in advance so that we can coordinate the handover.

11. Delivery Damage & Responsibility

We take care to prepare furniture appropriately for transport and use experienced delivery providers.

Please inspect your order upon receipt.

If you notice any damage, missing components or concerns about the condition of your purchase, contact us as soon as possible.

Where practical, we ask that visible transport damage is reported within 24 hours, together with photographs.

This helps us investigate the matter promptly with our delivery partners.

The 24-hour request does not limit your statutory rights or prevent you from reporting problems discovered later.

For goods delivered using a courier arranged by Avego Antiques, responsibility for loss or damage generally remains with us until you, or a person nominated by you other than the carrier, takes physical possession of the goods.

Where you independently arrange a carrier not offered by us, different statutory risk-transfer rules may apply.

12. Returns & Cancellations

We understand that purchasing antique furniture online is an important decision.

For eligible online purchases, you normally have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days after receiving your goods without providing a reason.

You must notify us of your decision to cancel within the applicable cancellation period.

You then normally have a further 14 days to return the goods.

For change-of-mind returns, customers are responsible for the direct cost of return transport where this has been properly disclosed before purchase.

For larger furniture, estimated return collection costs typically range from £65 to £150, depending on the size of the item and collection location. Larger items or more distant collections may cost more.

Specific return transport estimates, including any applicable higher maximum or item-specific estimate, must be provided before purchase where required by law.

Certain items genuinely made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised for you may be exempt from the usual change-of-mind cancellation rights.

Please refer to our Returns & Refunds Policy for full details of cancellation procedures, eligibility, return transport charges and refunds.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights concerning faulty or misdescribed goods.

13. Antique Condition & Restoration

Many of our pieces have been carefully cleaned, polished, conserved or sympathetically restored before being offered for sale.

Our aim is to preserve original character and craftsmanship while ensuring furniture is suitable for its intended use, taking into account its age and condition.

Where significant restoration, replacement parts or alterations are known to us, we aim to include these details in the product description.

Older furniture may contain historical repairs, variations in construction, replacement fittings or signs of previous restoration.

Please note that antique furniture may require different care from modern furniture.

We recommend avoiding excessive moisture, direct heat, prolonged strong sunlight and inappropriate cleaning products.

Customers are welcome to contact us for general care advice relating to their purchase.

14. Accuracy of Information

We aim to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, prices and other information on our website are accurate and up to date.

Occasionally, errors or omissions may occur.

If we identify a significant error affecting an order, we will contact you promptly and explain the available options.

We will not make changes to an accepted order without an appropriate legal basis or your agreement.

Nothing in this section limits your rights where goods are not as described.

15. Intellectual Property

The content of our website, including product descriptions, photographs, graphics, branding and written materials, belongs to Avego Limited or its respective rights holders unless otherwise stated.

You may browse our website and use its content for personal, non-commercial purposes.

17. Third-Party Services & Links

Our website is operated using Shopify and may contain links to external websites or services.

These may include payment providers, social media platforms and other third-party websites.

18. Personal Information & Privacy

19. Liability & Statutory Rights

We are responsible for supplying goods in accordance with our contractual and statutory obligations.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts our liability where doing so would be unlawful.

In particular, nothing limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer legislation.

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We are not responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable consequences of a breach of contract or failure to exercise reasonable care, except where the law provides otherwise.

Nothing in this section affects the remedies available to you where goods are faulty, damaged or not as described.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our business, website operations or applicable law.

The current version will be available on our website, showing the date of the most recent update.

Changes will not retrospectively alter the terms of an order already accepted, unless agreed with you or permitted by law.

21. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.

If you are a consumer residing in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you retain any applicable mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in the courts available to you under applicable law.
