Pair of Antique Edwardian Oak Carver Armchairs c.1900

A handsome pair of antique Edwardian carver armchairs, dating from circa 1900–1910 and designed in the Arts & Crafts style with subtle Art Nouveau influence.

Crafted from solid dark-stained oak, the chairs feature a rich warm finish with attractive open-pore grain. The high slatted backs give them a strong architectural presence, while the scroll-carved crest rails add an elegant decorative detail.

Each chair has gently curved armrests and a red upholstered vinyl seat, creating a striking contrast with the dark oak frames. The seat height of approximately 48 cm also makes them practical for use as dining carvers.

A versatile pair that would work equally well as dining chairs, occasional seating, hall chairs or statement armchairs in a traditional or eclectic interior.

Condition

Good antique condition with wear and tear commensurate with age and use.

The oak frames show natural colour variation, surface marks, scuffs and signs of age consistent with pieces dating from the early 20th century.

The red vinyl upholstery is a later addition and shows light age-related wear.

Structurally sound and ready to place and use.
