A handsome Art Deco tiger oak sideboard, dating from the 1920s–1930s and made by Charles Burt Ltd of London.
The piece retains its original Charles Burt Ltd, London maker’s label together with the Nero Registered Trade Mark label.
Crafted in richly figured oak, the sideboard has a strong period design with a broad shaped top, carved back rail and decorative floral detailing across the front.
The central section contains three drawers with carved wooden handles, flanked by two cupboard doors. Each cupboard opens to reveal useful internal shelving, offering practical storage for tableware, glassware, linens or general household items.
Decorative details include carved floral blocks, shaped door panels, carved borders and substantial turned front feet. The oak has a warm tone with attractive grain and figuring throughout.
A substantial and characterful British-made piece, ideal for a dining room, living room or eclectic vintage interior.
Condition
Good vintage condition overall with wear and tear commensurate with age.
There are various age-related marks, scratches, small knocks and signs of use to the timber and finish, consistent with a piece of this age. The cupboard shelves have later patterned coverings, as shown in the photographs.
