A handsome late 19th-century Victorian mahogany chest of drawers by Maple & Co, London, with the maker’s stamp visible to the piece.
The chest features a classic two-over-four graduated drawer arrangement, with two smaller drawers across the top and four generous full-width drawers beneath.
The drawer fronts are finished in attractive flame mahogany veneer, displaying rich figuring and warm colour. Turned wooden knobs, rounded front corners and a moulded plinth base give the chest a strong traditional Victorian appearance.
A substantial and highly practical antique chest offering excellent storage, ideal for a bedroom, dressing room or traditional interior.
The back has been replaced at some point in its history and is now formed from pine tongue-and-groove boards.
