A particularly attractive antique mahogany drop-leaf Pembroke table, dating from the Regency to William IV period, circa 1820–1830.
This is a desirable miniature or “baby” Pembroke table, with compact proportions that make it especially versatile in modern interiors.
The table is constructed from richly figured solid mahogany and mahogany veneer, with a warm patina developed through age and use. The rectangular central top is flanked by two hinged drop leaves, allowing the table to remain compact when not in use or open out to provide a much larger surface.
The leaves are supported by traditional wooden brackets beneath.
Elegant turned and reeded legs terminate in period brass castors, giving the piece a refined early 19th-century appearance.
A useful single drawer is fitted to one end. The drawer construction includes a hand-sawn drawer bottom and substantial thick-cut timber liners, details consistent with early 19th-century British cabinetmaking.
A lovely and highly usable antique table, suitable as a side table, lamp table, occasional table, sofa table or compact breakfast table.
