Antique Edwardian Triple Wardrobe with Bevelled Mirror | c1910

A substantial and beautifully made antique Edwardian three-door wardrobe, dating to approximately c1910, with richly figured veneer panels, an original full-length bevelled mirror and generous internal storage.

The exterior is particularly attractive, with decorative shaped moulding framing the figured veneered door panels. The central door incorporates the original bevelled mirror, which shows only very minor foxing and presents well for its age.

The two outer doors open to spacious hanging compartments, while two large drawers to the base provide useful additional storage for folded clothing, blankets, linens and accessories.

The interior is lined with warm, straight-grained secondary timber, likely mahogany or sapele, creating a pleasing contrast with the more decorative exterior veneers.

Later Interior Adaptations

The internal sliding garment rails appear to be later additions, most likely fitted during the early to mid 20th century as conventional coat hangers became more widely used.

Earlier Victorian and Edwardian wardrobes were commonly fitted with fixed hooks or pegs, and it was not unusual for good-quality furniture to be updated over time rather than replaced.

These later rails make the wardrobe more practical for modern use while also forming part of its long working history.

Additional original-style hooks remain inside, providing further hanging options.

Condition

Good antique condition overall, with age-related marks, knocks, scuffs, surface variation and wear consistent with a piece that is well over a century old.

There are minor imperfections and areas of wear to the timber and veneer, all in keeping with its age and history.

The rear panel to the right-hand section has been replaced, but this does not show from the front and does not detract from the overall appearance of the wardrobe.

The original bevelled mirror shows only minor foxing and presents well. The doors and drawers remain very usable, and the wardrobe is a substantial, characterful piece ready for continued use.

Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
