Victorian Twin Pedestal Writing Desk with Nine Drawers

A substantial Victorian twin pedestal writing desk with excellent storage and plenty of genuine period character.

The desk follows the classic nine-drawer configuration, with three drawers across the upper section and three drawers within each pedestal. The drawer fronts retain decorative brass drop handles and keyhole escutcheons, while the deep pedestals and broad top give the piece a pleasingly solid and well-proportioned appearance.

The writing surface has been replaced at some point with a burgundy vinyl inset, which is not original to the desk.

Its useful proportions make this an excellent practical desk for a home office or study, whilst its age and patina give it considerably more character than a modern reproduction.

Condition:
Good antique condition with age-related wear throughout, including marks, scratches, knocks and variation to the finish. There is some damage to one drawer front as photographed. The burgundy vinyl writing surface is a later replacement.

We really like the honest, well-used character of this desk. It has the substantial proportions you want from a traditional pedestal desk, and with nine drawers it is exceptionally practical as well as decorative.
