A handsome pair of antique Victorian rosewood dining chairs with shaped top rails, decorative pierced back splats and elegant sabre rear legs.
The finely turned and reeded front legs give the chairs an especially refined appearance, while the padded seats are covered in a traditional patterned fabric. The rosewood has a rich colour with beautiful natural figuring throughout.
There is evidence of historical woodworm, which has been treated as a precaution. Both chairs are structurally sound and suitable for use.
We particularly like the graceful shape of these chairs and the natural variation within the rosewood. They would look equally attractive around a dining table, beside a console or used as occasional chairs in a bedroom or sitting room.
Approximate dimensions each:
Height 85 cm
Width 47 cm
Overall depth 51 cm
Seat depth 40 cm
Seat height 44 cm
Condition:
Good antique condition with expected marks, scuffs and wear consistent with age and use. The upholster is clean and presents well.
We particularly love the elegant silhouette and beautifully figured rosewood of these Victorian dining chairs. The pierced backs and finely turned front legs give them a graceful, refined appearance, while the upholstery complements the dark timber beautifully. They would look equally at home around a dining table or used as occasional chairs in a bedroom, hallway or sitting room.
