A beautifully proportioned Edwardian inlaid mahogany display cabinet, dating from around 1900–1910, with decorative marquetry, geometric glazing and an elegant bow-front lower cupboard.
Crafted predominantly from mahogany, the cabinet features fine light-wood inlay throughout, including ribbon and swag decoration across the upper frieze and oval marquetry panels to the lower doors.
The upper section is enclosed by a pair of glazed doors with decorative geometric glazing bars and glazed sides, allowing plenty of light into the display area. Inside are two shelves, creating three useful levels for displaying china, glassware, ceramics, books or decorative objects.
Below, the shaped mahogany surface sits above a practical two-door cupboard with internal shelving, offering additional enclosed storage.
Raised on slender tapered legs, the cabinet has an elegant and relatively compact footprint despite offering generous display and storage space.
A versatile antique piece that would work beautifully in a living room, dining room, hallway or bedroom, whether used as a china cabinet, drinks cabinet or general display cabinet.
Condition
Good antique condition overall with wear and tear commensurate with age.
There are minor marks, scratches and signs of use to the timber and finish consistent with age. The decorative inlay presents well and the cabinet retains plenty of character.
