A handsome Victorian walnut writing table dating to circa 1860–1880, combining elegant proportions with genuine 19th-century character.
The rectangular top features a beautifully aged leather inset writing surface, framed by warm walnut with a moulded edge. The leather has developed a rich time-worn patina with rubbing, fading, marks and colour variation, giving the table an authentic antique appearance.
Below is a useful full-width drawer fitted with two turned wooden knobs and a central keyhole. Decorative moulding to the drawer front, shaped corner brackets and finely turned legs add to the refined Victorian design, while the small castors make the table easier to reposition.
Its compact size makes it particularly versatile. It would work equally well as a writing desk, home office desk, occasional table, console table or hallway table, especially where a larger pedestal desk would be too imposing.
